VC9601670
At the start of 1862, Mr. Johnson's Island was a peaceful, uninhabited piece of land in the middle of Sandusky Bay on the north shore of Ohio. But by the spring of that year, several hundred men in gray were residing in make-shift buildings, under the watchful eye of armed guards in blue. Mr. Johnson's Island had become a Confederate Prisoner of War Camp. Told in their own words, this is the history of the 9,000 men imprisoned there, and of the conflicts that became the story.
