About the Wilmington-Stroop Branch
In 1974, the demand on the only library in Kettering was great. The Board of Trustees determined that a second branch in Kettering would help ease the burden. A site was located and construction begun, but a building trades strike in 1975 delayed completion of the project. Finally, in January, 1976, the Wilmington-Stroop Branch Library was opened. An addition was completed in 1996. The library houses a collection of paintings by Kettering arts teacher Jan Brasier, honoring the retired staff of the former Meadowlawn Elementary school with depictions of children's classics. Circulation at the Wilmington-Stroop Branch Library remains among the highest in the Dayton Metro Library system.
