About the Northtown Branch
The Northtown-Shiloh Branch opened in October, 1958, with a modest yet functional brick building built on land donated by the Beerman Foundation. By 1969, the library was one of the most active in the system, and was expanded in 1972. The Northtown-Shiloh Library holds the distinction of being the first branch in the Dayton Metro system to sport carpeting! An enclosed courtyard and castle-like design greets patrons on arrival and the library opens to light and glass in the reading rooms.
