Videos and DVDs - Policy and Circulation Procedures
The Dayton Metro Library acquires both entertainment and
informational videos / DVDs to satisfy a variety of viewing interests.
Most locations of the Dayton Metro Library have video / DVD collections,
however the size and selection at each location will vary and may change
from day to day. Patrons may borrow video / DVD materials without special limits
or rental fees.
With the exception of high demand titles, most videos / DVDs
circulate for 21 days. High demand titles (i.e. entertainment movies
less than one year old) are considered "Fast View" and circulate for 7
days. However, all videos / DVDs can be held for same day
patron pick-up.
Patrons may use library video / DVD materials AS IS and must
assume any damages to the tape / disc while in their possession. The
Library accepts NO responsibility or financial liability for possible
damage caused to any players (VCR or DVD) using library materials.
Patrons and/or organizations are responsible for returning all
borrowed videos / DVDs in good operating condition. In the case of loss,
theft, or damage, the patron or the organization is responsible for the
full replacement cost.
Videos / DVDs may be returned in the bookdrop of any Dayton
Metro, Troy-Miami County Public, Bradford Public, or Germantown Public
Library systems. Items mistakenly returned incomplete, to other
libraries, and/or to commercial rental establishments remain the
responsibility of the borrower (including overdue and replacement
charges) until such time as they are completely returned to the Library.
Library patrons are responsible for observing all U.S. copyright
laws pertaining to proper usage and viewing of library videos / DVDs.
Public viewings or performances are not permitted unless otherwise
allowed by copyright laws. Teachers are advised to consult the Library's
"face to face teaching exemption" checklist before showing videos / DVDs
in their classrooms.
