How to get a card at the library
All applicants for a library card must apply in person and show proper identification,
such as a current driver's license, a state-issued identification card, a current student
identification card, or an armed forces identification card. New library cards will be
mailed to the address provided by the patron.

-
Online Accounts
Using the My Account feature, you are able to view what items you have checked out,
what titles you have reserved and what fines you owe the library. To access your
account, you need your library card number and a Personal Identification Number(PIN).
Library cards and PINs are available at any library location. Card numbers and PINs
cannot be issued online.
-
Lost or Stolen Cards
If your card is lost or stolen, call the Circulation Department immediately at
496-8905.
-
Voter Registration
You can register to vote at any of our library locations. If you need more
information about the requirements or deadlines, contact the Montgomery County
Board of Elections, at 225-5656.
-
Inter-Library Loan
Interlibrary Loan allows you to obtain items not owned by DML from other libraries
around the country. You are allowed 8 requests in process at one time. The service
takes 2-3 weeks, and with the exception of microfilm, most items can be sent to the
branch of your choice for pick-up. Read the complete Inter-Library Loan Policy.
- Homebound Service
Is it hard for you or someone you know to get to the library? We can deliver books, movies and music delivered to your home
free of charge! Dayton Metro Library provides this service to adults who have difficulty getting out. Tell us what you would like, and we'll bring it to you. Whether you need us for a few weeks or indefinitely, Homebound Delivery will be there.
-
Golden Buckeye Cards
Golden Buckeye Applications are available at all Dayton Metro Library locations.
Cards are free and available to Seniors age 60 and over.
-
Income Tax Forms
Income Tax Forms are available in season (normally January through April) at all
Dayton Metro Libraries. The library carries Federal and State Tax Forms. City of
Dayton tax forms will need to be copied in the library. Copies are 10 cents each.
Be sure to call ahead to make sure that the library carries the form that you are
looking for.
-
Meeting Rooms
Dayton Metro Library meeting rooms are available free of charge during regularly
scheduled hours of operation to nonprofit community groups. (The organization
sponsoring the meeting must be nonprofit.) Library-related activities and other
events sponsored or co-sponsored by the library will receive priority in scheduling
the use of the meeting rooms. Read the complete
Meeting Room Policy.

Displaying Materials in the Library
Want to get the word out to the community about your event or your organization? The
library can help! Community information tables at the library are a good way to reach
your audience. All you have to do is bring your fliers or posters to the library and we
can do the rest.
There are only a few restrictions. We cannot post items that are exclusively commercial
(such as fliers about selling products or services, companies recruiting employees, etc.)
nor can we distribute campaign materials for a political candidate. Because of space
limitations, each library reserves the right to limit quantity and length of time that
materials can be available. Read the complete
Displaying and
Distributing Materials Policy.
In many cases, you can simply drop off your materials at the Main Library, 215 E.
Third St. Dayton, and we can send your materials to all our library locations, or just
to the library branches you determine. We do have some limits on distribution depending
upon size and how often the materials are published (for example we can distribute a
monthly newsletter) so please check with the Community Relations Department at 496-8901
for more information or if you have any questions.
-
Copy Machines
All libraries have copy machines available, and copies are 15 cents per page.
-
Fax Machines
The library does not have a fax machine available for public use.
-
Computers
There are computers with Internet access and Office Products (including Word, Publisher,
PowerPoint and Excel) available at all Dayton Metro Libraries. Any items printed are
$0.10 per page. Documents on a disk may also be printed from library computers.
